HDMC Staff Captures Rabid Dog: No Cause for Alarm, Says Dr. Shridhar

Hubballi EXPRESS NEWS: The HDMC veterinary department successfully captured the rabid dog that attacked more than ten residents in the Vasavi Nagar area on Monday evening.

Speaking with Hubli EXPRESS, HDMC Health Officer Dr. Shridhar Dandeppanavar confirmed that, upon receiving information about the incident, a response team was immediately dispatched to the area and safely captured the dog. “Residents initially reported that the dog attacked 7 to 8 people, but we are still verifying the exact number. We visited KIMS Hospital to check on the bite victims, but many had already returned home by the time we arrived,” he stated.

Dr. Shridhar mentioned that he plans to visit the victims at their residences to gather further details. He confirmed that the dog, captured near Parivar Super Market in Vasavi Nagar, was a rabid stray and not a pet.

“Residents need not worry. We are taking all necessary precautions to address the situation,” Dr. Shridhar assured.
